Selecting Your Sample
There are different ways
you can select your sample in a random way.
For example, you could
a)     Choose a number between 1 and 10, e.g. 7, then pick out every 7th pupil until you have 25
from each yeargroup.
b)     Select 5, miss 10, select 5, miss 10, select 5, miss
10…keep on doing this until you have 25 students from each yeargroup.
c)      Use Excel to produce a list of random numbers and
then select your sample according to the random numbers. Note: I have already produced
8 sets of random numbers for the first 8 students who ask me for them.
To select a pupil, highlight their row and give it a different colour using the button in the top right.
 button in the top right.

Don’t forget to delete all the pupils you don’t
want. To delete a pupil or several
pupils at once, highlight all their rows and then go to the Edit menu and click
Delete.
Sorting
Your Data
Once you have collected 25
pupils from each Year Group, you will find it helpful to sort them.
